18. 手机稀有金属(考古)+3

说一个公司的电话部门，生产电话需要一些材料，然后这些材料的价格在过去几十年剧烈的
变动。由于预示手机部门还要增长，因此公司决定买大量的材料，来减少成本。这些材料的
数量可以满足于当前的生产线，因此减少成本，增加利润。大致就是这个意思啊。。

一个手机生产公司因为要用到很多很贵的metals，然后过去这个材料的价格rise and fall，
所以现在大批量购买会锁定价格以及保证利润~

cell phone manufacturer 需要用到很多precious metals， 这些metals 的价格在过去十年中
有过很大的波动。公司预测接下来cell phone production 还会有增长，所以准备立刻买一大
笔稀有金属来lock in savings，认为这样可以save costs and increase profits
我写到的几个点之前的JJ 大概也有cover:
1. 过去十年中的价格波动不代表以后也会。现在买了如果之后价格没有变动甚至跌了反而
会导致损失
2. 购买金属以后，储藏和管理这些材料也需要cost，可能会outweigh cost saving from price
volatility
3. 关于production growth 的forecast 没有说明来源，不一定准确

V1 有个report 说手机生产过程需要一些昂贵的稀有金属，类似于金银神马的，厂商说
过去十年中他们对金属的需求一直扩大，在此过程中见证了金属价格的大幅的上升与下
跌。由于他们预测此后他们对手机的生产仍会扩大对金属的需求将会一直很大，厂商认
为此时买下现在生产线上需要的large quantity of metals 是明智的，将会lock 成本，并
且guarantee a high profit in the future.
V2 “cell phone manufacturing requires a large variety of precious and expensive metasl, such
like gold, silver and copper. 在过去的数年中，我们公司已经进行过对此类贵重金属的购
买， and we found the price of these metals sometimes changed dramatically. 而且我们
forcast a growth of our cell phone division and high-volume pruchasing looking strong. 如果
我们购买(并且库存?) A large amount fo these metals, 就可以lock our costs. By doing so,
we can lock in our cost savings and guarantee a high-level profit.”
【参考思路】
1. 时间全等: 过去几年涨价不代表未来会涨价，如果跌价会给工厂照成损失
2. 充分必要条件:提前购入材料并不是保证利润的唯一条件。因为价格波动可能上浮或
下降该贵金属是否在决定手机成本中起重要作用?可能影响甚微
3. 还有公司所做forecast 的可靠性:他们是根据什么资料来做的， 具不具有普遍性?
4. 无关假设: 提前购买就一定会保证利润。副作用： 贵重金属存储与看护需要额外的
劳动力和仓储资金.这增加了隐形成本.
19. 软件公司临时工(考古)

一个软件公司准备消减budget 增加profit，方法是把一部分全职的员工换成临时的，因为
一个汽车公司这么做了以后就增加了profit。
【考古】
Jet Software company did not gain an increase of profit in the past three years. Inorder to cut
budget costs, the company decide to replace its full-time employeewith temporary workforce.
The reason is that auto industry has applied thisstrategy and replace many permanent employees
with part-time labor, which greatly increase their profits. Usually, the pay to any temporary
employees is onlyhalf or less than that of full-time employees, without any benefits or
bonus.Therefore, if our company apply the same strategy and switch 25% of thefull-time
workforce to temporary labor, it will lead a great increase in profit and gain a stability in the long
term.
【参考思路】
1. 错误类比：将汽车公司与软件公司类别不当，两个行业都不一样，软件公司对技术要求
更高，不像汽车公司对员工要求不是很高，所以可以完全按照价格选择员工而不用考虑其
他的因素。
2. 因果关系：profit 除了考虑cost 还要考虑income，也有可能临时工不如熟练工
efficiency 高，同样的工时但是产量更低，因此支出节约的部分不敌收入减少的部分，所
以利润也不一定升高。
3. 无根据假设：增加临时工一定能bloster current profits in the short term and
benefit the company in the long term? 将四分之一的员工换成临时工，不能保证员工
的loyalty 以及responsibility，或许换临时工也会让正式员工感到解雇危机，不能安心
工作，如此一来就没办法保证stability in long term 了。
4. 雇佣的临时工可能同时在几家公司打工，而且这些公司也都是software design。市场
竞争环境下，这些design 公司相对其他领域的公司更加看重公司内部idea 的保密工作，
而且这样的design 公司占领市场一个非常有效的方式就是开发出一款新好用的软件，这样
雇佣大量的临时工很可能让公司的idea 泄露。
