同义替换是GMAT阅读文章中的一种现象
作者为了表达清楚自己的观点，有时会对同一个内容采用两种不同的表述方法，由此来帮助作者高效理解内容，也避免一些词汇的重复使用。比如在GMAT-prep07 Essay3一文中，句子：A closer examination of Aztec culture indicates that treating Aztec women's production in Mexico in such a manner would be a mistake.这句话中用到了同义替换，对观点表现的更加清楚、充分。这篇文章属于比较长的文章，论点突出，所有文字几乎都围绕着作者的观点---解释阿兹特克女性对阿兹特克社会很有贡献---来展开。
同义替换是GMAC出题时的一种手段
比如在词汇题中，考察词汇的同义替换，当然要注意语境;在事实信息题中同义替换体现的最为明显，为了提高考题的难度，正确选项往往是对原文内容的同义替换，当然这和事实信息题的出题过程有关：GMAT阅读事实信息题出题时，出题者会在文章中找到一个句子或者一个句群(完整表达一个内容的几个句子);然后对这个句子进行同义替换，也就是改变某些词汇或者句型;最后出题者会将这个句子中的一部分放在题干中，一部分放在选项中备选。所以考生只有了解同义替换才能在解题中对选项的变化有所把握。更多相关内容请点击》如何零基础准备GMAT阅读。

(E) 公司应该从减少医疗覆盖来控制医疗保障费用而不是将费用移给雇员。这个选项的后半句是对的，定位在“cost shifting threatens employees' health because many do not seek preventive screening.”。但是让其变得更有效的方法不是减小医疗的覆盖范围(设立定点医院不等同于减小医疗覆盖范围，医疗覆盖范围多指可医治的疾病数量)，文中没有涉及减小医疗范围。
