As这个词看起来简单，但是用法却很多，而且经常出现，了解as用法不仅对改错部分有帮助还能提高阅读理解能力。因此在这里就给大家介绍下GMAT语法as的用法。
一.As做介词
1、 as作“以……身份”或“当作”的解释时候，后面跟表示身份、职业、地位、人的特征的名词作宾语。
例句： Although she had signed a pledge of abstinence while being an adolescent. Frances Willard was 35 old before she chose to become a temperance activist.
(A)while being an adolescent
(B)while in adolescence
(C)at the time of her being adolescent
(D)as being in adolescence
(E)as an adolescent
题解：A、B. C、D的表达要么不简洁，要么不符合表达习惯。选E
意思：当(他)在青少年时。答案：E
2.作介词的as常用来作补语
例题： In Aristophanes' Lysistrata women are seen as the means of bringing peace and good sense to a war. torn world.
(A) as
(B) as if they are
(C) that they will be
(D) that they are
(E) for being
题解：本题是考査see sth. As sth.的习惯表达：只有A最准确.简洁，see之后很少用that从句。答案：A
值得提的是，GMAT的改错題喜欢在表达这类用法的as之后加一个being作为迷惑选项.即“as being sth. / as being adj.请记住：在GMAT中这两种表达均是错误的，应该省去being。

二、as 作连词
1.表示时间：
意为“随着…”，表示两个同时正在演变的情况。
例题：As more and more people invest their money in savings certificates or money-market funds m order to earn higher interest, they are abandoning traditional low-interest investment havens such as passbook accounts and life insurance policies.
(A)As more and more people invest their money
(B)While people have more and more been investing their money
(C)As money is more and more invested by people
(D)More and more . when investors put their money
(E) While, more and more • investors have been putting their money
睡解：C中用被动语态违反了主动优选原则：B、D. E表达不对，A表示了 invest 和abandon两个动作是同时发生的.这是一个逐渐演变的过程。 答案：A 语法点提示：more and more越来越多的：invest in投资于…
2.表原因:
如：We paid him generously as he had done the work well
3.表让步：
语气比although, though强一些，注意句中的语序变化。
Cold as it Was we went out.
Try as he would, he could not lift the rock.
该种用法在改错中末出现过.但在阅读中经常出现，由于其语序的特殊性，经常让考生不知所云，请对此种用法引起注意。
4.表示动作的方式，强调某一动作与另一动作的相似性。(GMAT考核的重心)
Quasars are so distant that their light have taken billions of years to reach the Earth： consequently, we see them as they were during the formation of the universe.
(A)we see them as they were during
(B)we see them as they had been during
(C) we see them as if during
(D)they appear to us as they did in
(E)they appear to us as though in
题解：本句大意，类星体那样的遥远以至于它们的光需要儿十亿年才能到达地球，因此，我们看到类星体的样子就是它们在宇宙形成时的样子。as if. as though之后一般跟从句，而不跟介词短语：同时它们含有“与事实相反之意”，改变了句意因而C、E是错的。 B中从句中的过去完成时是没有根据的，D中句子的强调主体we变成了 they.同时did替代前面的appear to us.导致句意违背客观事实，因为宇宙形成时并没有人类存在。答案：A
除此之外，GMAT改错常考到的as表方式的句型有以下几种：
(1)a do(does)sth., just as b do(does)：
(2)just as c do(did. does)sth., SO b do(did. does)：
(3)just as c do. So too+倒装句子/正常语序的句子。可译为“正如…，同样地…”

三、as作为关系代词
as作为关系代词时，它有以下三种用法：
1.跟在“the same名词”结构之后，相当于一个定语从句的引导词(相当于关系代词或关系副词 who. that. whom. when, where)。as 的先行词为 the same 所修饰的名词。需要指出的是对于as的此种用法，that可与之互换。如：
I read the Same books as most young people do. (as=that)

2.相当于上一种用法的省略结构，仅适用于系表结构：即
(1)sth. / sb. + 系动词+the same+介词+sth. / sb. +as+介词十 sth. / sb.(前后介词一样)：某物对于某人和对于另一个人是一样的。
(2)sth. +系动词+the same as+sth,表明某物和某物是一样的。
3. as指代前向的整个句子而不是某一个词或短语。as所指代的句子可在as从句中充当主语、宾语和表语。
四、as构成的固定词组
(1) such as表示举例，而不用like。译为“例如”，之后可跟名词、动名词，但不可跟句子。

(2) as…go就……一般情况来说：与一般的情况来比较而言。
(3) even as=just as
(4) as long as=if
(5) inasmuch as=because
(6) not so much…as与其说…不如说
