1.避免选择一些“假大空”的例子。
处于中国人的思维模式，考生很喜欢使用一些看起来很有气魄，但是实质上没有技术含量，也不能解决实际问题，只是将热情澎湃的情感表达出来而已，此类例子没有任何营养可言。
2.避免一些“无关痛痒”的例子。
这类例子读起来，虽然是事实，但是给人感觉很平淡，可有可无，还有深度的东西没有挖掘出来，所以强度不是很够。
3.避免使用太过局限性的例子。
使用例子的初衷就是辅助论证，但是如果列举的实例过于局限，那么对论证也没有很大的帮助。

1.选择可以支持原文的例子。
实例：Even if the results are not achieved， the experience would prove to be meaningful to others. In such a case， the failure， which is according to the result-oriented definition， can also be a success when the time comes.
分析：即使没有成功，实现目标的过程对别人也是有益的。本句在首句就是段落的主旨，然而文章引用怀特兄弟造飞机的例子，得出的结论是“失败是成功之母”，那么说明这个例子与文章的主旨句没有任何关系，所以考生应该杜绝此类例子的使用，建议用一些支持原文的例子。
2.选择有创新意义的例子。
实例：Significant advancements in our knowledge of the solar system and the universe require increasingly keen tools for observation and measurement. Telescope technology and the measurement of celestial distances， masses， volumes， and so forth， are the domain of astrophysicists. These advances also require increasingly sophisticated means of exploration. Manned and unmanned exploratory probes are designed by mechanical， electrical， and computer engineers. And to build and enable these technologies requires the acumen and savvy of business leaders，managers，and politicians.
分析: 一个学科要发展的话，需要各个学科的通力合作此实例从考生很少触及到的宇宙天文知识入手进行阐述，同时应用一些GRE新词，给人一种耳目一新的感觉。
3.选择表述尽量精准的例子。
实例：The key to success， however， is to focus on the specific task at hand and not to worry about results. Jesus Christ， a loyalty to his cause， devoted all his life to his destiny---to free all enslaved people. He was chased， arrested and finally be crucified. According to the above-mentioned definition of failure， he was definitely failed. But all his good deeds are proved by billions of his worshippers
分析：像“The key to success， however， is to focus on the specific task at hand and not to worry about results. ”这样的表述，就很容易产生歧义，所以这个例子既可以理解为耶稣虽然失败了，但是他为世人带来了福音，这是一种成功!同时还可以理解为耶稣虽然失败了，但是他自己得到了历练，生命得到了净化，这也是一种成功!所以给人一种混淆的感觉。建议考生尽量使用一些表述精准的例子。
