Thus it is not particularly surprising that some earlier scholarship concerning such cultures has so far gone unchallenged. An example is Johann Bachofen’s 1861 treatise on Amazons, women-ruled societies of questionable existence contemporary with ancient Greece.
虽然这个句子很冗长，但是考生看到an example的时候，具体的细节内容就可以略读了，只需要对文章的中出现的一系列专有名词、数字做个标记，然后对例子之前的内容做详细的了解，那么这段内容就能轻松的掌握了。
真实事例2：
Creative ideas not only produce their own instruments of survival as time and circumstances demand, but permit the substitution of new forms for old under the pressure of changed circumstances. For example democracy, as an idea,originated in ancient Greece and was carried from there to Western Europe and the Americas. But it did not retain the ancient Greek form: it passed through several reforming processes and exists today in many countries.

二、GRE略读内容之句子的重心变化。
快速阅读的技巧主要是掌握作者的真实意图，很多时候作者会使用句子的前部部分做铺垫，然后后半部分引出自己的观点，例如使用although引导句子，或者是使用not...but...引导句子等。
真实事例1：
Although some experiments show that，as an object becomes familiar，its internal representation becomes more holistic and the recognition process correspondingly more parallel，the weight of evidence seems to support the serial hypothesis，at least for objects that are not notably simple and familiar.
the weight of evidence 之后的句子才是作者的重点，所以考生需要有重点的阅读句子的重点内容。
总而言之，GRE阅读与平时的论述性文章有很大的区别，所以考生需要重点阅读作者的观点，了解作者支持什么就可以了，对一些论证过程或者而是例子引申的话可以做到粗略了解即可。
