1、hoof n. 蹄
原文：Many believe that the story first began in America in 1877, when two friends were arguing over whether a horse ever had all four feet or hooves off the ground when it galloped.
许多人认为，这件事于1877年发生在美国，当时两个朋友争论，当马疾驰时，是否会出现四只蹄子同时离开地面的情况。
需要注意的是hoof的复数形式为hooves。
2、gallop v.奔跑，飞驰，急速行进
