The bar chart presents the information with regard to the change of proportions of different immigrants to Australia from five countries in three years, namely 1962, 1982 and 2002.
The proportion of Italian immigrants underwent the most dramatic change throughout this period. The figure for it stood at nearly 40% in 1962, before falling radically to 20% in 1982. Although the declining trend continued in the following two decades, the percentage of Italian immigrants still accounted for the largest of all the immigrants from any other countries. Similarly, the percentage of New Zealand immigrants also saw a drop, declining from 8 percent in 1962 to less than 5 percent in 2002.
There was a similar tendency in the change of the proportion of UK and Vietnam immigrants. Both of the figured for these countries showed an upward trend and subsequently dropped as years went by.
Interestingly, the percentage of the India immigrants, which was rarely seen in the beginning year of 1962, jumped to 15% in 1982. Although the proportion declined slightly, it was only next to the figure for Italy, more than 10 times than it was four decades ago.
Overall, the gap between the proportions of immigrants from the five countries narrowed over this period.

There is an upsurge in practical knowledge in these years and people have seen many education courses being totally theory-based. Going to college or learning practical skills, which is better, has been a discussion among public. In my view, the choice really depends on different individuals' needs and will.
When a student is leaning academic knowledge in university, other skills are also developed. University education will focus on some exceptional abilities like organization, interpretation, evaluation and communication, which can help students to be a well-rounded person. A qualified student should also possess some important skills, such as problem solving and critical thinking.
Learning fixing or construction or something practical skills like these also sounds reasonable. It is well-recognized that every student has to work after they graduate. They should be equipped with competence which enhances the transition from school to work. Beside, an excellent student learner is admittedly important to society, but more importance is his or her productivity. However, college education focuses more on theoretical knowledge instead of practical abilities, which distances learners from the real life.
My view is that this choice is according to different people' s needs and will. For instance, if a doctor spends 3 years in practicing medicine, his experience will be more than his peers who stay in college after they graduate. Also, in our society, a doctor' s reputation is based on his skills and experience. To doctors, practical skills are more important. However, it may be better to pursue further education for a philosopher until he gets a doctor degree. Meanwhile, different people have different wills to do different things, which means they can do the personal choice for themselves.
Overall, I think the choice is quite personal and people will make the best decision based on their conditions.
