如何把握雅思阅读文章重点?相信这是烤鸭们在备考雅思阅读方面比较渴望得到的答案。但是攻克雅思阅读并非一朝一夕,是需要长期积累和正确的技巧方法的。
要求考生在有限的时间里快速阅读并把握文章大意是一个相对较高的要求,所以大多数积累不够的考生会感到吃力,主要原因除了词汇量有限以外,还是因为平时阅读积累较薄弱,加之对西方写作风格不熟悉造成的。
在大部分考生备考时间紧、复习节奏快的前提下,笔者认为,通过结构阅读法有望在短时间内获得一定程度的提高。
结构阅读法是指基于文章内在的写作线索,把握文章段落大意,帮助在解题中定位。由于雅思阅读文章大都选自欧美国家的知名媒体和书刊,文章观点新颖,论述缜密,故而其内在的逻辑和线索,会组成清晰的结构(structure)。考生若能基本读懂各段落主题句(Topic Sentence), 通常会对文章的大体结构有所认识,而这对于T / F / NG以及List of Headings中那些靠先读题的方法反而越加迷茫和纠结的题目和选项不啻为一种解脱。
例如,剑5中page 18/Passage 1 /Test 1/ Questions 1-3:

A. It avoided all scholarly words.
B. It was the only English dictionary in general use for 200 years.

只需大体读过,便不难得知,文章的进展就是一部字典的“背景酝酿——导入作者——筹划——动笔——艰辛笔耕——终于出版——一朝成名”的发展过程,线索清晰明了,结构历历在目。
阅读上述主题句所需时间也并非想象中很长,因为大体只需读过9个句子,所以花费的时间非但不会占用过多时间,反而因为给后面需要判断的statements提供了一个清晰可见的framework,而使得判断速度加快了。
我们看到,选项中大部分是关于字典的内容特点,所以考生会抛开首尾部分,而倾向于去读第六段,因为它在讲述字典的特点,会较多地包含了选项所涉及的内容,判断因此显得从容多了。
类似的情况绝非独一无二,在剑5/ Test 1 / Passage 2 “Nature or Nurture?”一文中,同样包含清晰可见的结构。它是顺着“实验话题引入——实验介绍——实验规则——预计——实验结果——实验分析——实验讨论”的线索展开的,仍然清晰可辨。同样对后面的Questions 14 ——19的Matching题大有助益。
