I wanna talk about the dogs I have kept throughout the years. Hmm ... actually my history with dogs started when I was still a very small child. I just remembered that one day my mother suddenly brought in a medium-sized yellow cross-breed dog and named him ‘Great Strength’, hmm, literally in Chinese meaning that he has very great power. I don’t know why he is called that name but then the…funny thing is whenever we opened the door, Great Strength just dashed out and quickly disappeared and… we couldn’t find him and it’s only when he’s getting tired or he felt very hungry that he would know his way back home. Actually I remembered that we kept him for like a few years. One day erm…my mother suddenly took Great Strength away and gave him to another relative who is actually living on the hillside and then I never actually saw him again and at that time, I really missed him a lot and cried a lot and I just don’t know…and I just didn’t know why my mother just took him away without any reasons.
And my second dog was actually a Shapei and we got her when she was a puppy and then we actually got her when she was a few months old and what I can still remember about her is her shiny white fur and actually she is quite large in size and she was actually very great in learning tricks like jumping over…er…my legs because actually at that time, I just lift up my legs and then pose as hurdles and then she kept on jumping over and it’s fun. And then we kept her like a few years more but then she got sick and again, my good mother took her away.
And I guess, my third dog is actually my last dog at this stage and he is a collie. Actually I raised him from a puppy by myself. I’d like to take him to hike and actually to run with him and he is really a great company to me because we have so much fun all along and I’m actually I…I have been watching how he’s growing up and because I remembered that when he was still a puppy he was very small in size and he could actually sleep on my tummy and then, just like two weeks or three weeks later, he had grown so large in size that he has just become like a giant to me, and my God, I thought that it’s so funny that he could grow so huge just like two weeks time and then he’s been like that huge all along, he’s really a great company to me and I have done a lot of activities with him and actually at that time when I was living in Shatin, I like to take him to join the dogs’ gatherings every weekend because we tend to let the dogs run around, play around in groups and it’s really fun. Too bad I lost him a few months ago because he’s getting really old and he had problems with his hind legs, it was sad but after all he’s already thirteen years old, so I guess, that’s life and I have to deal with it.
