  今天我们学习科技问题。先论述“科技在提供给人类更多食物的时候也给人类造成了健康隐患”,然后讨论“人们是否真的应该想住哪里就住哪里”等问题。

  例题

  You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

  Write about the following topic:

  The range and quality of food have improved by the advancement of science and technology. However, some people maintain that science and technology pose a threat to the safety of food,as in the case of genetically modified food. What is your opinion? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

  Write at least 250 words.

  1. 审题

  从话题上来看,这是一道科技类题目。现代科技的发展即对人类社会产生了巨大且深远 的影响,又是当今有重大争议的问题之一。这就决定当今各个机构举办的写作考试都会频繁涉及这一话题。考生有时被要求对科技的整体发展发表观点,但更多的时候,科技类问题会着眼于某类甚至某种科技产品的发展对人类的影响。

  从提问方式上来看,这是一道典型的独立观点类题目。考生既可以褒奖科技发展对食物 质量的影响,也可以批评其带来的潜在威胁,甚至可以独树一帜,发表自己的观点。

  2. 论点与论据

  ★支持转基因食物

  1) 转基因食物能够最大限度地提高食物的产量,这样才能够保证以有限的资源为越来越多的人口提供食物;

  2) 转基因食物能够提高食物的质量,使得与原来相同种类的食物产生更大的价值。

  ★反对转基因食物

  1)转基因食物是建立在对现有物种进行基因修改的基础上的,这一过程有相当高的风险性,很难保证产出的食物完全无害;

  2)从道德上讲,人为改变物种的基因也是对现有基督教等宗教教义的挑战,因为根据

  宗教,只有神才有权创造物种;

  3) 转基因食物的生产破坏了传统的、有机的农业生产方式,把农业生产变成纯粹的消费性大规模生产活动,不利于农业的可持续发展。

  4. 高分范文

  While we marvel at the diversity of the food market as well as the size of strawberries cabbages and turkeys, we are also bothered by the same question - is it OK to cat the genetic: modified food?

  Although genetic modification indeed improves the productivity of food and claims also raise the quality of food, it is still a moot question whether this artificial process will generate unpalatable results. Doubts have been raised with regard to the safety of the food and the impact the environment, and neither of them are clear by now.

  Another voice concerning genetically modified food suggests that it reduces the once bucolic and peaceful agriculture to the now profit-oriented, mass-production industry. The old joy farmers had while harvesting the crop after a year’s work is no longer experienced, and machines replace manual work on farms. This total alienation of human from their land is, to say the very least harmful to the sustainable development of agriculture.

  Genetic modification of food also raises moral concerns. As many religions, Christianity included, hold that only God has the right to create, this process of changing God’s original design is no less than a scientific blasphemy.

  Just like any science and technology bring to us, genetically modified food carries with it blessings and curses all in itself. Confident as scientists in finding a cure for this, let us not forget that they must find their so-called cure through the very means that gives us so many troubles.
