College Board 现任主席David Coleman先生再三强调SAT考试应回归到使学生整理例证的要求中，他说道：“改进后的SAT考试核心将是分析例证，要让考生用数学知识去分析经济研究或科学实验中的数据，或让考生分析给出的关于文学、历史、地理和自然科学方面的例证。” David Coleman先生也公开表示了对于SAT文章写作部分不注重事实的不满。 “只要作文有清晰的结构和个人的观点，就能获得高分，就曾有高分考生将独立宣言的作者写成是Justin Bieber，并称独立宣言导致了法国革命。”“我们不应当鼓励学生编造事实”，David Coleman先生如是说，“我们应当让他们以自己的最佳例证去支持一种观点。”于是2016年SAT写作迎来“脱胎换骨”的变化，我们一起来看下。
新SAT语法时间35分钟，共44题，考题由句子修改变成了文章修改，考生需阅读4篇400词左右的文章，每篇文章11个问题，选项由原来的五个减少为四个。
1. standard English conventions： 与改革前SAT语法题目相同，包括动词、一致、从句、分词、代词、形容词、副词、连词、固定搭配、标点符号等。

2. expression of ideas：改善文章主旨发展、组织与修辞
例：

D. DELETE the underlined portion and end the sentence with a period.
3. relevant words in context：根据上下文改善用词
例：
A. NO CHANGE (vacated)
B. evacuated
C. departed
D. retired
4. command of evidence：善用证据来支撑文章
例：
The writer is considering deleting the underlined sentence. Should the sentence be kept or deleted?
A. Kept, because it provides supporting evidence about the benefits of walking.
B. Kept, because it provides an additional example of a community stakeholder with whom transportation planners work.
C. Deleted, because it blurs the paragraph’s focus on the community stakeholders with whom transportation planners work.
D. Deleted, because it doesn’t provide specific examples of what the numerous benefits of walking are.
