主要区别:是隐喻采用的是A is B的结构, 而明喻采用的是A is like B的结构。

Mary is a flower.

Mary is like a flower

  (2)hyperbole :

My heart almost stopped beating when I heard my girl friend's voice on the phone.

  (3)Euphemism

  (4)rhetorical question:

  1. Did you help me when I needed help?

  2. Did you once offer to intercede in my behalf?

  (5)Sarcasm/Irony

Laws are like cobwebs, which may catch small flies, but let wasps break through

  (6)Paradox

She read the long-awaited letter with a tearful smile.

  (7)allusion

  (8)understatement

I was sick of the other day, it really wasn't that bad, besides that I broke my arm and my leg.
