Environmental protection and economic development are two major issues that lie ahead of humans. While some people are convinced that economic development always comes the first，I would like to say that anyone who ignored the significance of environmental protection is sorely mistaken. To begin with，environmental deterioration is a major problem in the world. It is no exaggeration to say that almost every country in the world suffers a loss caused by the environmental problem. For example， recent smog in China has caused so many car accidents global warming has been a threat to the whole world; air pollution puts citizens in a depressed mood every day.
There is no denying that all these issues deserve financial support from the government. In addition， the environmental protection relates to the sustainable development of the country. That is to say，it is a dangerous assumption that only after we achieve a perfect development of economy can we be both financially and technologically able to devote to the environmental preservation. Because environmental problems never leave time for human to prepare. When we think we are totally ready to face them，they may have deteriorated sharply.
Finally， a sound environment is beneficial to human survival. As is known to all，earth is the only homeland we have. Most obviously，living in a clean and comfortable environment， people are more likely to be creative and inspired
In conclusion，it is true that economic development is indispensable to humankind but in the long run，environmental preservation should be given priority to.
