1. 冠词(Article)
冠词的用法：
1)the---特指，加单数名词表示一类人或事物
e.g. the forbidden city，the moon，the teacher
2)a/an---泛指“每一、某一、同一”
e.g. An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
3)零冠词---复数名词表示一类人或一类事物，学科、三餐、球类运动
e.g. Teachers are respected by students.
常见错误：
例1：The Internet is product of scientific development.
这句话强调的是科技发展的产物，特指科技发展的产物而不是别的，所以应该在product前面加上定冠词“the”。正确的应该是：The Internet is the product of scientific development.
例2：We make friends with those who have similar understanding of life with ourselves.
这句话中的“understanding”是一个可数名词，既然用单数的话，强调的就是一种类似的理解，既然是一种，我们就需要在前面加上不定冠词“a”。正确的应该是：We make friends with those who have a similar understanding of life with ourselves.
例3：Doing part-time jobs is important for students to enter the society.
这句话中的“society(社会)”在不特指的时候，前面不需要加任何冠词，而且一般情况下前面都不需要补充冠词，正确的应该是：Doing part-time jobs is important for students to enter society.
例4：I would like to go out to enjoy the beauty of the nature.
这句话中的“nature(大自然)” 在不特指的时候，前面也不需要加任何冠词，正确的应该是：I would like to go out to enjoy the beauty of nature.
2. 介词(Preposition)
例1：For the old people, they are more likely to go outside with friends in the same age with themselves.
“同龄人”的固定搭配是“of the same age”，而不是“in the same age”，因此，这句话应该改成：For the old people, they are more likely to go outside with friends of the same age with themselves.
例2：James is the most influential one between all the psychologists.
这句话中的“psychologists”用的是复数形式，说明“psychologists”不止一个，然而这里却用了一个介词“between”。“between”强调的是在两个人或事物之间，如果超过两个，就应该用“among”。正确的应该是：James is the most influential one among all the psychologists.
例3：Most institutions such like hospitals, information service centers plays a very important role in society.
英语中的“例如”其正确表达为“such as”，而不是“such like”，因此这句话应该改成：Most institutions such as hospitals, information service centers play a very important role in society.
例4：We can become partners just because we have a same understanding in judging problems.
这句话中的介词“in”使用有误，这里应该用一个连词“when”，正确的应该是：We can become partners just because we have a same understanding when judging problems.
3. 连词(conjunction)
例1：What concerns the teacher most is the learning demands of all students, rather than any one particular student. On the contrary, students study at home can make adequate study arrangements.
通过阅读这句话我们发现，作者是在对比不同的学习方式，但是“On the contrary”不能表示对比，应该把它改成“By comparison”。
例2：Children cannot support themselves to finish education, they have to rely on their parents.
以汉语思维来看，这句话没有什么问题，但是英语是十分讲究连词的使用的，这句话中两个半句之间用的是逗号，而且中间没有任何连接词，这样是不符合英语表达习惯的。这句话中前后两句是因果关系，所以中间需要加上一个表示因果关系的连接词“so”，正确的应该是：Children cannot support themselves to finish education, so they have to rely on their parents.
例3：Computers contribute a lot to education, besides, they also make a great contribution to the whole society.
经过阅读我们发现，前后两个句子其实是包含了一种递进的关系，然而连词“besides”表示的是并列的关系，所以应该把“besides”改成“what’s more，furthermore，moreover，in addition，besides”等词。
4. 代词(pronoun)
常见错误
1)指代对象不明确
Paraphrasing the topic is very important in writing especially they are well organized.
这句话中，代词“they”之前提到了三个内容：①paraphrasing the topic;②writing;③paraphrasing the topic is very important，根据句意，“organize”的对象应该是“topic”，所以这句话应该改成：Paraphrasing the topic is very important in writing especially when the topic is well organized.
2)指代对象不明确
Many students prefer to work at home by using computers; this should be popular in future.
根据句意，这句话中的代词“this”指的是前面这种学习方法，所以把代词明确一下，改成：Many students prefer to work at home by using computers; this new learning style should be popular in future.
3)人称代词使用错误
例1：Assume that we have disputes with others, you are supposed to ask the government for help.
这句话前后的主语不一致，前面的主语是“we”，后面的主语是“you”，而且第二人称“you”会给人一种不礼貌的感觉。这句话可以改成：Assume that when having disputes with others, people are supposed to ask the government for help.
例2：The runner who makes a good performance has his or her award.
文章中如果多次使用代词“his or her”会让人感觉到单调，这时可以把“his or her”改为复数，被动语态或者把“his or her”改成“one”。这句话就可以改成：
The runners who make a good performance will have their awards.
或：The runners who make a good performance will be awarded.
或：The one who makes a good performance will be awarded.
5. 副词(adverb)
副词位置不同，导致句子含义不同：
Only the Chinese students are familiar with TEM8. 只有中国学生熟悉英语专业八级考试。
The Chinese students are familiar with TEM8, only. 中国学生仅仅熟悉英语专业八级考试。
The Chinese students are only familiar with TEM8. 中国学生只是熟悉英语专业八级考试。
