  1.key points:

  这篇文章主要讲的是the origin of earth’s moon,紧接着提到了two important facts,并且讲述了两种理论,分别是the Capture Theory和the Mars Theory.

  2.注意

  (1)what is the lecture mainly about?

  我们可以从听力原文中的The origin of earth's moon, the largest moon in the solar system, is still something of a mystery. There are some theories about its origin, however. The Moon is the only natural satellite of the Earth. It is the largest natural satellite of a planet in the Solar System. It is the brightest object in the sky after the Sun.得出文章主要在讲述月亮的起源,即Talk about the origin of moon.

  (2)What does the theory have to be consistent with?

  我们先来看看原文:

  过度:Now, keep in mind that a theory of the moon's origin has to be consistent with two important facts.

  Two important facts:

  The first fact is that the earth contains a lot of iron. Most of it has an iron core. But the moon contains practically no iron.地球含铁,月球没有

  The second fact is that, other than the difference in iron content, the moon and earth are composed of essentially the same minerals, a similarity not shared with any other planet or moon in our solar system.月球和地球包括相同的物质

  最后总结出:The moon contains practically no iron.

  Other than the difference in iron content, the moon and earth arc composed of essentially the same minerals.

  (3)What theory dose the speaker tell us?

  Part2(1)

  One of the earliest theories of the moon's origin, I call it the Capture Theory, proposes that the moon was somehow captured by earth's gravitational force.首先讲述的是捕获说。

  Part2(2)

  This theory is improbable, however, because it assumes that the moon and earth formed in different parts of the solar system.这个学说是不成立的,因为它假定的是太阳和月亮是太阳系中不同的构成。

  Part2(3)

  If this were true, you would expect the moon*s composition to be much different from earth's composition, just as all the other planets in the solar system arc so different from earth.

  如果这个理论成立的话,月球和地球的构成是有所区别。

  A second theory of the moon’s origin is more promising. It is sometimes referred to as the Mars Theory, because according to this theory, when earth was still molten, it was struck by a planet about the size of Mars.当地球处于比较炙热的时候,它和火星发生了冲撞。

  The impact caused the cores of the two planets to melt together and chunks of earth‘s crust to be thrown out into space. These chunks come together to form the moon.在碰撞的过程中,地球地壳中的一些部分变成了碎片,它们形成了月球。

  Now remember, earth's crust is low in iron because the iron is in earth's core, but high in various other minerals. This then accounts for why there is little iron but lots of other minerals on the moon.地壳中的铁的含量比较少,但是其它的部分比较多。这也就解释了为什么月球中的铁比较少,但是其它的矿物质的含量比较多。即earth’s crust, low in iron, high in various other minerals. The moon: little iron, lots of other minerals.因此就可以推论出来,The Mars theory is more promising.

  因此,我们就可以回答第三个问题的时候就可以从the Capture Theory和the Mars Theory入手解决。

  三.听力材料知识扩展

  月球的起源说可以分为四种,分别是分裂说,同源说,俘获说,撞击说。

  月球的共振潮汐分裂说坚持月球是地球的亲生女儿,即月球是从地球中分裂出来的。

  同源说坚信月球与地球是姐妹或兄弟关系,月球与地球在太阳星云凝聚过程中同时"出生",或者说在星云的同一区域同时形成了地球和月球.

  捕获说认为,月球是地球抢过来的"女儿“即地球与月球由不属于同一星云团的物质形成,外来的月球在飞过地球附近时被地球的强大引力所捕获,最终成为一颗环绕地球运行的卫星。

  撞击说也被称为"大碰撞分裂说“,这一假说认为地球早期受到一个火星大小的天体撞击,撞击碎片 (即两个天体的硅酸盐幔的一部分)最终形成月球。

  但是对于以上的四种假说,众说纷纭,暂时没有一个统一的说法。
