Since the 2008 global recession, raising revenue through growing tourism has never been more important for metropolitan authorities than at any other time in history. Although the prevailing opinion is to better historical buildings and streets, many experts in tourism would agree with me that hiring more police is more important for sightseeing business for the consideration of long-term. Enhancing the police force not only can bring a sense of security for tourists travelling to international destinations, but also encourages travelers to spend more time on shopping.
Safety has always been the topmost consideration for the most travelers regardless of wherever they go. Some of the most strikingly beautiful regions and cities around world have been plagued by the plummeting of tourism due to the safety concern. Increasing the number of police patrolling on streets and scenic spots can create an atmosphere of security for regions that have been suffering from the impression of lack of security in the past. As a result, the administrators of tourist destinations can assure the potential customers that they no longer need to worry about safety in future. London has been an excellent example of how reinforcing police force can promote tourism. As we know that London had been hit badly during the 2005 bombings where three bombs went off on underground trains. But the City has recovered quickly as the authority sent a large number of policemen on the streets without delay.
Moreover, strengthening the police force can also benefit the economy of tourist destinations enormously A city' s service sector cannot make a fortune if the adorable tourists are only interested in sightseeing rather than shopping at upscale malls. However, what discourage the travelers from buying souvenirs and gifts for their friends and families are thieves, robbers and even organized crime organizations who will seize tourists' property unhesitatingly. Dispatching more officers on the streets should deter the criminals from targeting the tourists and therefore stimulate local economy effectively Indeed, Paris should stop waiting for any natural restoration of law and order and take action immediately Too many foreign tourists' personal belongings have vanished during their trips to Europe that were otherwise lovely.
In conclusion, I strongly approve the opinion that city authorities should spend more money on police force to increase the sustainability of the tourism industry.
