综合写作:犀鸟的喙有什么作用
阅读:
1. 喙是保护自己免于被捕食者侵害的武器;
2. 喙的颜色和形状可以帮助犀鸟伪装自己避免被捕食者发现;
3. 喙可以帮助犀鸟散热,调节身体的温度。
听力反驳
1. 喙的骨头是中空的,又薄又轻,很容易被损坏,不可能当作武器;
2. 有捕食者出现时,犀鸟就会呼唤同伴隐藏起来,这样反而更容易被捕食者发现;
3. 白天犀鸟可以通过喙来散热,但是在晚上气温降低的时候,犀鸟则需要保留身体的热量。
范文:
None of the three explanations proposed in the reading can effectively demonstrate the function of toucan’s bill.
Firstly, from the perspective of the weapon theory, the professor states his doubt, because according to the lecture, the bill is made of hollow bonds with air in it. It is thin and light-weight in an effort to fly. When used as a weapon to defend itself in a fight, the bill may have been broken in jabbing.
Moreover, judging from the camouflage hypothesis, the professor holds a different view, as the lecture further illustrates that based on the loud call as well as distinctive colour of toucan, it is less likely that they would like to blend into the surroundings and hide from predators.
Last but not least, on the point of the function to release heat, the professor never fails to express his concern, because in terms of the listening, toucan has to remain proper temperature. When in daytime, they have to get rid of excessive body heat, but at night, they have thick feather to maintain body temperature. And releasing heat is a contingent requirement.

It is as important for older people to study and learn new things as it is for younger people.
The best thing about retirement is that retirees are no longer obliged to maintain the edge of their employ ability skills and can enjoy their time and vacation at leisure. However, it is worth pointing out there are many significant advantages for eiders continuing to learn knowledge that are novel to them. Old people learning useful skills not only can alleviate the burden shouldered by the younger family members, the process can also prevent them from feeling detached from the society.
First of all, learning new skills can bring immeasurable pragmatic benefits on the old people. To understand better, we need to consider the situation of the elderly living at home. With children at school and parents at work, the elderly members of the family find themselves left alone for long hours. There could be an illness or injury and no one home to assist. On the other hand, by learning the basics of the latest living skills, the elderly could have a sense of independence and they do not have rely on the younger family members to look after them all the time. For example, many healthcare companies have invented computer-based technologies that elders can learn how to perform daily tasks such as bathing and cooking independently and request medical help for minor or major conditions whenever it is needed.
What is more, old people can feel that they are still active members of society by learning new knowledge. For many old people, they have no idea about what they should do once they left the workplace. Although some professions such as teacher can continue their practice at a reduced capacity, many others are less fortunate since they do not have the opportunity to utilize the skill of work known to them for years. This could lead to sadness and worse elders could feel depressed. Learning new knowledge and skills is an excellent solution to the serious problem. By participating in activities like dancing or singing classes and other forms of recreational study groups, elders would feel that they are still productive and others can benefit from their learning endeavors. For example, I know a Chinese visiting professor who had spent a weekend teaching Chinese painting for a group of retired old ladies and gentlemen while he was visiting a university in United States. The students were thrilled when they saw the amateurish works in the end of class.
The pursuit of knowledge is often characterized as a process of lifelong learning. The rationale behind the phrase is supported by convincing reasons as discussed above.
