Our grandparents' experience may be around 50 years older than that of ours and thus might seem outdated, yet we cannot deny that it is useful to us. The more experienced they are, the more likely that they will make more reasonable choices when confront with the same challenges with us. Therefore, I definitely disagree that our grandparents' experience is of no use to us.
To commence with, our grandparents are familiar with the morals and principles that we cannot bend, thus their words have an educative effect on us. Having experienced so much in their past lives, seldom would they make detrimental options that violate the law or morality. And their advice on this aspect lays solid foundation for us to be citizens who always conform to the law. Almost all the grandparents would tell their grandchildren what they should do and what they should not when they were little kids, which is extremely influential in shaping our perspectives of laws and morals.
Subsequently, their experience of failures could be invaluable in guiding us to avoid making mistakes. Not every people would like to tell their failures to us except those who really love us. My parents would like to tell me many mistakes they have made when they were young and warn me that I should never do the same things like them. As I grow older and see people around are doing the things that my grandparents have warned me not to do and get punished, I appreciate them a lot. Through learning lessons from their failures, I believe I save for myself a lot of time in remedying the would-be mistakes.
Admittedly, some of their advices may be kind of conservative, but as we can discern them and choose not to conform them, we will not suffer a lot. Affected by the era that they lived in, grandparents may suggest that we should get married as early as possible, or we should learn to earn money whenever we have time, all of which are outdated and are rejected by modern people. Yet we are not likely to be influenced by them in these aspects considering we live in an environment where almost all the people have the same conception with us. So there's no need to worry about the bad effects of their advices.
To summarize, indeed our grandparents' advices have some drawbacks, but by no means should we ignore them completely since in a large sense they are educative to us. Some parts of their advice are supposed to be treasure for us, through abiding which we don't need to encounter some obstacles in our future lives.
