Why does the government spend millions of dollars on space travel and space exploration? Many people wonder whether the government should also adopt austerity policies in this field in the spiral of economic downturn. Although the space travel may not bring any imminent benefit to the world, I believe the government should continue to support the mission without reservation. Not only can the space exploitation expand human knowledge to an unprecedented level, it has the potential to create real eternal economic prosperity.
First of all, investing in aerospace research may enable scientists to answer the ultimate question. Indeed, where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going? Anyone who dares to pay attention to the development of science would realize that physicists have been unable to make significant breakthroughs for decades. As a matter of fact, maybe we are never able to understand dark matter on our own. However, we should not exclude the possibility that there are other life forms that are intelligent enough knowing the answers of these challenging questions. If the government can fund the outer space research unremittingly, the odds of finding intelligent extraterrestrial life would be much higher. It is my sincere hope that our alien friends can enlighten us with the origin of universe.
More importantly, any visionary leader would realize the development of space exploration is the only way to resolve economic recession once and for all. In accordance with the classical Keynes’s school of economists, the lack of demand is the fundamental cause of business cycle. Can we expect the demand to be created by our Africa friends in future to save the global economy? Temporarily maybe. But in the long term, the trade across universe, mimicking the current international trade, is the only way to generate infinite demand. Imagine our brave men and women venturing into space travel, they can negotiate with members of the organization that is similar to the World Trade Organization on behalf of the Earth. The construction of universe highway alone, which would carry the goods from the Earth to alien planets, will create millions of jobs for centuries. It is worthwhile to mention that the delegation must bring lawyers with them as their role has always been crucial in trade talk and I would like to volunteer if no one has the courage.
In conclusion, I am thrilled by the prospect of space travel and travel exploration.
