一.排除法
在托福阅读考试中，排除法并不是可以帮助考生在考试中取得高分的最优的办法，因为考生如果使用这个办法的话，意味着答对这个题目的概率只有百分之二十五，答错的概率高达百分之七十五。但是在有的题目中，考生如果想要做对题目，只能选择使用排除法，利用选项中的关键词，到原文中去定位，一项一项的排除，并且最终找到答案。比如考生在回答TPO32PASSAGE2中的第2题According to paragraph 1, the situation for Siam’s old ruling families changed in all of the following ways EXCEPT_A) Their incomes were reduced.B) Their sons were posted as district officers in distant provinces. C) They could sell lands that had traditionally belonged to them. D) They had less control over the rural populations.的时候，可以首先从A选项开始做题，从A选项中的income定位到这一段中的第三句These families were pensioned off (given a sum of money to live on) or simply had their revenues taken away or restricted，即A选项正确;B选项中的their sons对应了这一段中的第三句their sons were enticed away to schools for district officers, later to be posted in some faraway province;D选项中的rural population对应了这段话中的倒数第二句，Local rulers could no longer protect their relatives and attendants in legal cases, and with the ending in 1905 of the practice of forcing peasant farmers to work part-time for local rulers, the rulers no longer had a regular base for relations with rural populations.只有C选项并没有在原文中出现，因此这个题目中的正确选项就是C选项。
二.联系上下文
在托福阅读考试中，每一篇文章之后，大约会出现11-14道题目，虽然题目的数量比较多，但是这并不意味着，考生在答题的时候，可以随着自己的想象来回答问题，小编认为，考生在回答问题的时候，可以通过联系上下文的方式进行推断，找到正确的答案。比如，当考生回答TPO14passage2中的第十题The word "prolonged" in the passage is closest in meaning to _A.unusual B.unexpected C.extended D. disastrous的时候，如果考生不认识这个单词的意思，就可以联系上下文的意思来进行推断。这个单词对应的原文是But the inhabitants of Tikal and other cities dependent on reservoirs for drinking water would still have been in deep trouble if 18 months passed without rain in a prolonged drought.原句说的是，如果干旱时间怎么样，依靠reservoir的人们还是会有问题，结合long肯定是干旱时间长了，储水池的谁就没有了，于是就有问题了，因此我们就可以推测出正确的答案C。
