例题一：What do you think is the most important advancement over the past 20 years in your country? (你认为在过去的20年中你的国家最重要的进步是什么?)
例题二：Among the following three types of professions, which do you think makes the most important contribution to society? Primary school teacher, nurse, artist. (在一下三种职业中，你认为哪种对社会做出的贡献最重要?小学教师，护士，艺术家)
对于学生而言，这样的问题显然超出了日常范围，即使自己对问题中的内容有看法，学生也经常因为给不出详细的解答而被扣分。下面介绍一种专门针对这种BIG QUESTION的解答思路：首先，明确给出答案并简短阐述原因。然后将这种大问题缩小化(NARROW DOWN)到个人的例子。根据这种思路，对于例题一学生可以参考以下的回答：
I think better medical service represents the most important advancement over the past 20 years in China. It has helped patients more effectively with better medical personnel, equipment, and pharmaceutical products. (明确给出答案并剪短阐明原因)
Take me as an example. Two years ago I broke my leg in an accident. The ambulance arrived at the scene within 5 minutes. I was attended immediately by emergency staff with high level professional skills and advanced equipment. When I was rushed to the hospital, a surgeon was waiting for me. He gave me thorough investigation and came up with surgery plan right away. Thanks to this good service I was able to heal within a short period of time.
这个回答的可借鉴之处在于使用了一个很巧妙且不突兀的转折: Take me as an example (以我为例子)。有了这样的转折学生就不需要再泛泛地列举原因而是可以通过具体的例子来回答，满足托福口语考试的评分要求。
