(一)具体事物类话题中的主要考察内容
具体事物顾名思义，包含我们在生活中可以看得见摸得着的、以物质形式存在的物体。在历年托福独立考试题中，曾经出现过的有形物体类考察话题有：书本、电影等媒体类物品，衣物、食物、礼物等生活类物品，照片、油画等艺术类物品，电脑、手机等科技类物品，等等。
(二)难点以及解题思路
但是这类话题的难点在于，很多东西同学们不知道如何去用一些专业用词有条理的表达自己的观点，比如描述一个艺术品，或者一本书。
其实我们完全可以有意识地去避免这些不熟悉的东西，转而说一些自己熟悉的，例如得到或者见到这些东西的过程或故事，自己看到这些东西的感受，具体形态只需要从自己熟悉的颜色、大小方面去说就足够了。
这样的题目可以从两方面展开，首先是此类事物，比如这本书的内容或者是这个艺术品的形态，另一个就是从精神方面进行展开，比如，从书中你得到了什么道理，这个事物给你的启发等等。

The most effective means of transport, I d say, is bicycle, an indispensable companion of most Chinese even though the private cars are on the rise. Each Chinese family possesses at least one bicycle and it is especially popular among college students. Compared with cars, bicycle still has some advantages. First, it is very convenient due to its small size. It does not need special parking space and can be parked almost everywhere. Second, driven by man power, it doesn’t need fuel, so it has nothing to do with air pollution and energy crisis. Third, most people can afford a bicycle, but not a more advanced car. With so many advantages, bicycle will remain to be the most effective means of transport in China in the following years.

Well, for me, I’d say that the most impressive and most attracting food might be a kind of grilled clam. I’ve tried it when I was travelling in Tianjin, and the best grilled clams are in an anonymous grilling bar right by the roadside. Um, it’s made of clams, of course, and was seasoned with nothing more than a bit of sea-salt. The most crucial procedure in cooking this gourmet is grilling, and basically, you have to grill accurately till the clam is done. And it’s uneasy to control the time, especially when you’ve got a bunch of clams to grill at the same time. A friend of mine, Jessie, actually lived in Tianjin. She herself is completely into seafood, and she said that it would be a huge loss if I didn’t try out grilled clams if I came to Tianjin. She led me to the grilling bar, and it was definitely satisfying and unforgettable experience, considering the poor environment and somehow doubtful healthy condition of the little bar. But this is what always happens in China: you’ll always be surprised.
