估计大家都知道新概念，小编在准备GRE的时候背过20多篇，但是当时作为一个准备考试的学生，对托福考题的理解肯定是不够的，所以虽然背了很多文章，到了真正考试的时候还是发现自己的语言挺匮乏的，所以本期前程百利小编就从新概念里面挑出两个句型结合最近机经里面的题目进行展示如何将阅读与写作结合：
句型1:
Young people who have reason to fear that they will be killed in battle may justifiably feel bitter in the thought that they have been cheated of the best things that life has to offer. But in an old man who has known human joys and sorrows, and has achieved whatever work it was in him to do, the fear of death is somewhat abject and ignoble.
就两句话，对比了下年轻人和老年人对死亡的恐惧。年轻人，有各种各样不想死的理由，一想到会失去生活所能给予他们的种种美好的事物，就感到痛苦。这是可以理解的!而对于老年人来说，他们已经经历过人生甘苦，该做的都做了，应该是坦然微笑着面对生老病死的时候，再要怕死就有点可怜了(但是很多人包括历史上的诸多帝王在内 都是十分可怜的，因为他们真的很怕死，嬴政同学搞了那么多术士，还有什么雍正等等，应该不是因为喜欢吃重金属吧)。
在此，我们可以总结如下句型，用于描述年轻人的特点：
Young people who have reason to fear that …may justifiably feel bitter in the thought that they have been cheated of the best things that XX has to offer.!
大家注意：Have reason to do=there is a justification for sb. to do sth.有理由做某事儿，如
There is a justification for the old to pursue a tranquil life in the thought of their progressive loss of vigor and resistance.
相较之下，老年人,就淡定很多。
But in an old man who has known human joys and sorrows, and has achieved whatever work it was in him to do, the fear of death is somewhat abject and ignoble.
上面加粗的部分其实也描述了一部分应该是比较成功的老年人的特点，虽然不一定对，但是我们总可以拿过来用，结合我们之前第一期总结的A pales into insignificance when set against…我们可以写出如下例句：
The disadvantages of a sinecure (见第五其月),such as boredom and less financial rewards, pale into insignificance when set against the huge benefits it may bring about, especially in the thought of an old man who has known human joys and sorrows, and has achieved whatever work it was in them to do.
而上面这些例句都可以用在下面这个题目当中：
It is better to have a secure job with low salaries than a paid job that is easy to lose.
我们来在看一下下面这个题目，我们也可以利用年轻人的特点来写，赶时髦吗…
Some people like to buy a piece of technological device as soon as it is available in the market. Other people prefer to buy it after it has been adopted by many people. Which do you prefer?
年轻人作为走在时尚前端的消费群体，他们对最新的电子产品的追求要远远大于老年人：
Young people who have reason to worry that they will fail to be the front runner in fashion may justifiably feel bitter in the thought that they have been cheated of the best things that the latest technology has to offer. But in an old man who has less devotion to material things, who are concerned not so much about style as about sustenance, and who are desensitized to the fancy technological devices, the attitude towards the latest electronic products is somewhat negative and skeptical.
句型2:
排比想必大家都熟悉，虽然这个句型投入较大，但是产出也不小啊，字数多，而且不输气势;请看下面这个 Carlyle was entirely ignorant of what the bottle in his pocket contained, of the nature of the illness from which his friend was suffering, and of what had previously been wrong with his wife, but a medicine that had worked so well in one form of illness would surely be of equal benefit in another, and comforted by the thought of the help he was bringing to his friend, he hastened to Henry Taylor’s house.
这哥们挺猛的，不知道兜里的药是啥东西，也不知道朋友得的什么病，反正之前这个药对别人有用，对朋友没准儿也有用，这很有可能是一个错误的横向类比啊。
Be ignorant of对…不了解，不知道，of后面接的都是Carlyle不知道的内容。此段话，由be ignorant of引出三个排比
句，我们拿一个题目的作为例子：
Parents today are more involved in their children’s education than they were in the past.
这个题目显然说的有些问题，我来自一个小农村，父母从小忙着种地，本身又没什么文化，根本也管不了我，也没时间管我，所以这里我们主要强调农村父母没有那么关注孩子的教育：
It has long been noticed that an overwhelming majority of farmers are exposed to a scissor-style pressure: from above, looking after the old; from below, taking care of their children, all of which require a considerable sum of money.(先说说他们的压力作为背景)
Under this circumstance, little justification there is for them to concern themselves with the education of their next generation insomuch as they, more often than not, are entirely ignorant of the significance of education in the cultivation of their children’s personality, of the salient role that education plays in the success of their children's future career, and of the remarkable impact that knowledge may impose on the fate of the whole family, thanks mainly to their own lack of education, to their unsatisfactory economic situations, and also to their ever-growing stress both mentally and physically.
在此，通过三个of和三个to的连用把农民兄弟不关注子女的教育问题写的非常有气势，暂且不提我们同不同意，光是语言就可以蒙到很多考官了。
