  Introduction开头段

  Introduce the topic&state your opinion

  Body

  Topic sentence1+supporting ideas

  Topic sentence2+supporting ideas

  &Topic sentence3+supporting ideas

  Conclusion

  Summarize the topic&Restate your opinion

  Beginning the introduction

  Developing the introduction

  Showing the thesis statement

Do you agree or disagree with the r following statement? Grandparents’ advice is of no use to their grandchildren because the world has changed a lot in the past 50 years. Use specific reasons and details to support your response.

① Grand parents' advice is quite interesting

② Grandparents are very lonely and they really need their grandchildren.

③ The grandchildren are too young to live independently.

① Grand parents' advice is not useful to their grandchildren.

② Grandparents' advice is of great use to their grandchildren.

It is universally W acknowledged that in the past 50 years, r the world has changed tremendously in every aspect, and as for life and work, what the young people is experiencing is different from what happened to our grandparents’ decades ago.

So it is said that the advice from the grandparents is of no use to the grandchildren.

However, in my view, on no account can we turn a deaf ear to what our grandparents advise us to do.

  1)Topic sentence

Grandparents love their children, so they will never tell anything wrong

Grandparents are more experienced than their grandchildren

Grandchildren have less experience than their Grandparents

Grandparents ‘advice on health maintaining is very useful to the grandchildren

Grandparents' advice on getting along with others in society is also of great use

To begin with, as far as our health maintaining is concerned, deferring to our grandparents' advice is a judicious choice.

In addition to the previous point, advice from our grandparents on how to conduct oneself and get along with others in society is still of great use to us

  5)Supporting ideas

  Personal experience

  Expert opinion

  Statistic数据

  Logical argument

Anything you heard or read can support

Add transitional topic phrases

例如:in conclusion, to sum up, all in all, in a nutshell

Summarize topic sentence

Paraphrase the thesis statement

TPO3:Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

It is more important to keep your old friends than it is to make new friends.

Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

According to an Internet survey, almost 70% of people think that it is more important to keep old friends than it is to make new friends. I totally disagree with this idea. In my view, the importance of keeping old friends is equal to the importance of making new friends. I have several reasons for this opinion.

The importance of old friends in reducing stress cannot be exaggerated. Older friends have longer relationships with us; therefore, they know us better than new friends. When we encounter obstacles, it is our long-term friends—our old friends—who give us the best suggestions and help us get through our problems. Our new friends sometimes cannot give adequate advice to us because they do not know our situations well enough. We need time to get to know our friends. Last week, I faced the dilemma of whether to accept a promising job offer that would take me to another city. All of my new friends in my current company encouraged me to take the offer because they thought the job had strong future prospects. However, one of my older friends discouraged me from accepting it, as he knew that my mother’s health condition was poor and that she needed someone to take care of her. I think his suggestion was the best suited to me.

In other situations, old friends simply cannot help, and we need new friends to lend a hand. New friends can mean a lot in emergencies. In an accident, for instance, an old friend who is far away from you cannot offer any help. In such situations, new friends often play a crucial role in helping us overcome difficulties. After my cousin was in a car accident, his friends at his new company gave him a lot of help. Without the help of his new friends, I doubt that he would have recovered as well as he did.

I often wonder why some people emphasize the importance of having one kind friend, especially an old friend. Maybe these people are satisfied with the idea that old friends are more important. Ultimately, I think we should develop all kinds of friendships in order to assure that we can get help whenever we have trouble.
