代词： 同平行结构一样，也是SAT考试的必考知识点，也出现在改进句子(Improving Sentence)，句子改错(Identifying Error)和改进篇章(Improving Paragraph),那么今天就给大家介绍一下在SAT语法考点之代词用法。

表达简介，常用代词指代句中出现过的名词
2.代词使用的基本原则
代词要和指代对象的人称和数方面保持一致
3. SAT对代词使用的要求
(1)SAT在代词的使用反面有自己的规则，这些规则和普遍文法存在一些明显的差别，总的来说哦，SAT对代词的使用要求非常严谨，要求代词要非常明确的指代对象。
例1：Mary told her mom that she was pregnant.
在普通的文法中，我们都可以推断出这里的she 指代的是Mary，但是she 也可以用来指代her mom，这在SAT要发改错中是不允许的。
例2：After years of research on the dogs and wolves, scientists are confident their resemblance is very obvious.
这里的their可以指代dogs and wolves，也可以指代scientists，也是指代不明确。
另外，SAT中也不能接受代词的暗示指代，即在一个句子中，虽然代词所指代的对象并没有出现，但是该代词的含义是非常明确的。
Eg. They say Mary is a nice girl.
这里的they不能让读者明白指代的具体是谁，正确的表达应该是people或者是非常明确的人称。
(2)在SAT中，要注意which 和it 的指代
在普通的文法中，which可以指代之前的整个句子，但是在SAT中是不可行的
例：Mary came home late last night, which upset us a lot.
在这个在句子当中which指代的是Mary came home late last night，在普通的文法中，这用用法是正确的，但是SAT是不接受的。
(3)It的用法，it可以指代句子当中的一个单数名词，也可以作为形式主语。
例：It seemed unlikely that Mary could finish the work within such a short period of time.
在这里，it指代的是that 后面的Mary could finish the work within such a short period of time.，是为了避免头重脚轻。
练习1：
When Sheila and Lucy visited the restaurant, she noticed that the menu had changed and that their favorite dish was no longer offered.
(A) She noticed that the menu had changed
(B) She notices that the menu has changed
(C) Sheila has noticed the menu changed
(D) Sheila had noticed the menu changing
(E) Sheila noticed that the menu had changed
答案：E
分析：句子当中出现了两个女性Sheila 和 Lucy ，所以，首先，将答案锁定在C,D,E中，A,B中的she指代不明，再根据时态用法的判断，菜单变化肯定是发生在Sheila注意之前的。
练习2：
During the labor dispute, barrels of potatoes were emptied across the highway and they thereby blocked it to all traffic.
(A) Highway, and they thereby blocked it to all traffic.
(B) Highway, and they thereby blocking it to all traffic.
(C) Highway, by which all traffic was therefore blocked
(D) Highway, and therefore this had all traffic blocked
(E) Highway, thereby blocking all traffic
答案：E
分析：画线句子中的they指代的是barrels of potatoes，指代明确，没有问题，但是后面的it却指代不明，所以可以排除A,B选项，C选项中的by which违反了which不能指代整个句子的规则，而D选项中的this 也是不能指代整个句子的，所以选择E答案，用分词的形式表示主体发出的动作。
练习3：
Finding a wide variety of financial services in a small city is usually not as easy as it is in metropolitan areas.
(A) it is
(B) is that
(C) for those
(D) for that
(E) are those
答案：A
分析：这里it 的用法是前面提到的it作为形式主语。It在这里指代的是Finding a wide variety of financial services。
