固定搭配
1. 介词搭配
在SAT中对固定搭配的考察主要是集中在介词的考察上，这是SAT考试中的一个重点。
一个动词，名词或者是形容词到底和什么介词搭配，很多时候都是约定俗成的，这就要求考生们在平时要多积累。
介词使用不当，很多时候是很难通过语感察觉的，做题技巧也没有多大的作用。
例题1：As soon as (A)the employees realized that(B) management would never acceded with (C)their demands for a shorter week, a strike became inevitable(D). No error(E)
答案：C
分析：accede表示“同意“的时候和介词”to“连用
例题2： Prior to (A)the election of Henry Cisneros as mayor (B)of San Antonio in 1981, no major city in the United States had had(C) a mayor from Mexican descent(D). No error(E)
答案：D
分析：of …..descent表示”…的后代，后裔”
2. 动词不定式
有些动词后面只能接动词不定时
在SAT中，这些动词主要包括：attempt, claim, refuse, fail, determine等
例题1： Dr. Ling strongly (A) encouraged each of (B) us contacting (C) our federal and state representations and urge them to increase (D) funding for elementary school music programs. No error (E)
答案：C
分析：encourage someone to do something,鼓励某人做某事
注意：
下面短语中的to 是介词，to 后面要接V-ing的形式而不是动词不定式

分析：resort to 这里的to 充当的是介词，所以是正确的。

3. 固定句型

分析：这里考察的是固定句型强调句”in is….that”的形式
