在英语中，同级比较用as…as (not as/so ….as) 表达，同时同级比较用more than结构，但在SAT中关于比较的试题并不限于此，大致可以分为以下几类
1.关于that of the those of 的问题
例句：
The title of this book is more interesting than that book
这个句子是一个典型的错句，句子当中的the title of this book 和that book 做比较，这两者是不具有可比性的。
正确的形式是：
The title of this book is more interesting that the title of that book
这两本书的title进行比较是有可比性的，但是为了简洁，所以用that来指代the title。
The contents of this book are more interesting than that book
The contents of this book are more interesting than those of that book
代词用that 还是those要和前面的名词的数保持一致。
2.关于like ,unlike ,similar to ,compared with ,in comparison with的问题
在这五个单词或词组出现的句子中，首先要考虑可比性的问题
Like Mary, Judy’s legs are also long
句子中Mary 和Judy’s legs 是不具有可比性的，应该把Mary 改为Mary‘s legs
Compared with Tom, the works of Allen are more intelligent.
这个句子中的Compared with后的名词是Tom(人)，比较的对象是the works of Allen(作品),不能进行比较，所以正确的形式应该是：
Compared with those of Tom, the works of Allen are more intelligent.
3.关于比较结构中补助动词的问题
在比较结构的第二部分中，主语后面通常要补一个助动词，以使比较对象更加清楚。
I love Mary more than my parents.
I love Mary more than my parents do.
第一个句子的意思是，我爱玛丽胜过爱我父母;第二个句子的意思是我爱玛丽更过我父母爱玛丽。两个句子虽然只是一个do的差别，但是意思是完全不一样的。
一般而言，当两个主语部分做比较时，SAT倾向于在第二个主语后面加上助动词，但是也有例外，如果第一个主语后面没有宾语，如：I run more quickly that you,在这个句子中，I和you 作比较不会产生歧义。
补助动词的用法：
Yesterday I went to the cinema earlier than they did.
I do my homework better that Mary does.
They work harder than I do.
I can write better than they can.
She is studying SAT harder than I am.
要注意的是，在SAT这一类的考题中，当第二个主语过长时，常常把助动词放在第二个主语前。
The air outside has a higher concentration rate than does the air inside the room.
练习1：
The campus newspaper does not print as much world news as does my hometown.
(A) as does my hometown.
(B) as does my hometown newspaper
(C) compared to what my hometown does
(D) like my hometown newspaper does
(E) like the one in my hometown does
答案：B
分析：The campus newspaper 和my hometown.不具有可比性，只有和选项B中的my hometown newspaper可以比较。D选项中，要注意的是，没有as…like 这样的用法，只有as….as.

A mixture of jazz and classical idioms, the music of Gershwin was more innovative than most of his contemporizes.
(A) than most of his contemporizes.
(B) than most of his contemporizes were
(C) than were most of his contemporizes
(D) than that of most of his contemporizes
(E) than most of his contemporizes, as far as music is concerned.
答案:D
分析：the music of Gershwin和most of his contemporizes.不具有可比性，所以选项D中的that of most of his contemporizes是正确答案。
