If my friend is starting a new job, I would give him/her two suggestions as follows.
First of all, he/she should always say hello to the person he/she meets. People always like those who are polite and kind to the others, so a simple word like hello can make others accept and remember him/her, and in return, being kind to my friend. In this way, he/she could makes friends quickly.
Moreover, he/she could be modest. When stepping into a new environment, there's definitely plenty of new things remained to be learned. Thus, I think my friend should be modest enough to ask questions and learn from others, which enables him/her to learn more efficiently and handle his/her job as soon as possible.
