1. 用于疑问句.
2. 在虚拟语气中,条件句中若有were, had或should, 可将if省去,将were/should/had 提到句首引起倒装.If I were not in this position, I would do whatever I’d like to.Were I not in this position, ….
3. 用于adj/n/v + as/though 引导的让步状语从句中.Clever as he is, he doesn’t work hard.Hero as he is , he keeps modesty.Much as he likes her, he can’t marry her.※在这种倒装句中,主谓语序不变.名词前不用任何冠词.
4. 在so/such…that (如此…以至)句型中,若so/such…置于句首,So difficult was the exam that more than a half of the students failed.He drove so careless that he almost killed himself.So careless did he drive that he almost….
5. Only +状语位于句首时.Only in this way can you hope to make progress in English.一个人离开了家,才知道家是多么的好Only when one is away from home does one realize how nice home is.Only him the teacher praised.※only +主语/宾语时不倒装
6. hardly…when; no sooner… than; not until, not only, never, not, no longer, little, seldom, scarcely, barely, in no time, nowhere , by no means, in no case, 等否定副词和连词位于句首时。我们刚到家就开始下雨.Hardly ___________________ when it began to rain.No sooner __________________ than it began...直到我开始学习,我才意识到我浪费了多少时间.Not until I began to study did I realize how muchtime I had wasted.Never before has our country been as united as it is today.
